QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required.
- Must hold valid Michigan Nursing License.
- Direct work experience and/or educational background relating to children with special needs.
- Pediatric and/or work experience with students with special needs preferred.
- Knowledge of current health information, research and trends.
- Interest in active professional participation by attending individual school and community activities that will contribute to professional growth.
- Commitment to maintaining professional standards.
- Must pass criminal background check as required by School Safety Legislation.
ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
- Serve as a nursing consultant/resource person to educational personnel in the MISD Center Programs.
- Identify, assess and evaluate the health status of the pupil in order to make a nursing diagnosis.
- Interpret health status to the pupil, parents and school personnel and plan action for eliminating, minimizing, or accepting the health problems that interfere with pupil’s effective learning.
- Obtain physician and parent authorization when appropriate.
- Develop individualized health care procedures for those students having medical needs.
- Provide assistance and staffing to other MISD programs when needed.
- Be able to identify and utilize community resources for students, staff and families.
- Perform other duties as assigned or directed by building principal and/or administrator.
SALARY: $34.00/hourly
