QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school graduate having had experience working with special needs students.
- Minimum of two years community college credit preferred or successful completion of the WorkKeys or ETS Parapro Assessment.
- Cooperative, positive and flexible in student/staff relationships.
- Patience in instruction and the ability to be satisfied with seeing small increments in progress during the students’ school year.
- Ability to follow curriculum and instructor’s written and verbal instructions.
- Good attendance and punctuality record at previous job or educational experience.
- Must pass criminal history background check as required by School Safety Legislation.
ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
- Directly responsible to the classroom teacher.
- Under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher assist in:
- Operation of classroom
- Preparing instructional materials
- Maintaining classroom
- Instructing/supervising children throughout the school program, which may include physical education/aquatic activities
- Maintaining good home and school relations
- May include toileting children, including changing diapers
- Lunch program
- Assisting students entering and exiting building
- Other duties as assigned by the teacher/principal
WORK YEAR: 192 days
START DATE: As soon as possible
WORK LOCATION: Elementary AI Program
SALARY: Per Macomb Intermediate Federation of Paraprofessionals Master Agreement.
