Substitute Bus Driver
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Satisfactorily pass physical examination upon conditional offer of employment.
- Obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with endorsements.
- Must have excellent driving record.
- Physically capable of lifting and balancing 40-60 pounds.
- Neat appearance; well groomed.
- Cooperative, positive and flexible in student-staff relationships.
- Must relate well with others, be adaptable to working with students.
- Must have patience, be considerate have even temperament and be calm under stress.
- Experience preferred in working with students with special needs.
- Candidate must show dependability and initiative.
- Must pass criminal history background check as required by School Safety Legislation.
RESPONSIBILITIES SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
- Be able to operate the vehicle appropriately.
- Assist in the loading and unloading of students at home and at school.
- Maintain discipline of children on the bus.
- Assist in the assignment of students' seating.
- Keep inside of bus clean.
- Prepare accident report whenever necessary for student injury.
- Attend first-aid classes, other para-medical procedures classes and other training at the direction of the Transportation Director.
- Become knowledgeable in fire drill procedure.
- Become knowledgeable in the use of fire extinguishers.
- Apply safety restraining devices as requested and authroized by the building principal and/or physical/occupational therapist.
- Perform emergency first aid.
WORK SCHEDULE:
- Substitute drivers are typically scheduled to work on all days that school is in session.
