QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. A Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in Special Education.
  2. A valid Michigan teaching certificate with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education (ZA) or (ZS) and at least one endorsement in Special Education area.
  3. Three years of satisfactory experience teaching special education children under the age of five.
  4. Have personal transportation available on a daily basis.
  5. Must pass criminal background check as required by School Safety Legislation.

 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Experience working with infant/preschool age children and their families.
  2. The ability to model leadership to other professionals and parents through communication and demonstration.
  3. Exhibit knowledge in working with children with language, developmental, and multiple impairments.
  4. Exhibit knowledge of and the ability to model, coach and explain child management techniques.
  5. Experience in the acquisition and maintenance of data, specifically Power School/Special Education.
  6. Demonstrate and document the ability to get along with diverse populations.
  7. Demonstrate and document ability to communicate and work positively with other professionals and parents as a functional “team” member.
  8. Applied knowledge of assessment tools, procedures and teaching techniques.
  9. Flexibility to varied responsibilities, including several work locations and the home.
  10. Knowledge of Part C rules and regulations.

 

ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

  1. Cooperate in planning and developing curriculum for students with other professionals.
  2. Evaluate student’s needs and plan appropriate services.
  3. Provide leadership and work as an effective member of a transdisciplinary team, which includes occupational therapist, physical therapist, speech therapist, outside agency personnel and parents.
  4. Work effectively and cooperatively with other Human Service Agencies in implementing children’s IFSPs.
  5. Work effectively with parents and emphasize coaching and parent training as an integral part of each child’s regularly schedule therapy sessions.
  6. Work on developmental programming and provide educational experiences for children on caseload both individually and in groups collaboratively.
  7. Develop and train parents to be the primary teacher to meet their child’s needs.
  8. Work with parents on strategies for their children to use at home.
  9. Keep appropriate lesson plans, attendance records, progress notes, medical records, and annotations.
  10. Develop and write IFSP plans/objectives in cooperation with parents, other professionals and outside agency personnel.
  11. Attend MIPP and Assessment Center IFSP meetings as weekly scheduled.
  12. Perform other assignments as determined by Administrator.

 

WORK YEAR:    186 Days year round calendar

 

LOCATION:       To Be Determined

 

SALARY:           To be determined by qualifications and experience as per the direct service and degree specialist salary  schedule of the MIFT Master Agreement
