QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. B.S. degree in Occupational Therapy.
  2. National and/or state license registration.
  3. Experience with infants and young children, plus knowledge in child growth and development.
  4. Ability to communicate and work positively with young children, other professionals and parents.
  5. Knowledge of a variety of occupational therapy techniques with young children.
  6. Knowledge of psychomotor and readiness assessment tools.
  7. Experience working with families in home-based and center programs.
  8. Knowledge of adaptive equipment.
  9. Work experience and/or educational background with early childhood, physically impaired and autistic impaired preferred.
  10. Experience in the acquisition and maintenance of data, both computerized and hard copy.
  11. Flexibility and willingness to adapt to varied responsibilities and work locations.
  12. Must pass criminal background check as required by School Safety Legislation.

 

 ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO: 

  1. Organize and set up an effective occupational therapy program in the school.
  2. Instruct individuals and small groups in activities of pre-vocational testing, daily living, gross and fine motor skills, perceptual skills, recreation, crafts, etc., based upon physician’s order.
  3. Cooperate with Vocational Rehabilitation Services in the assessment of work skills.
  4. Act as liaison between schools, physicians, families and agencies regarding the occupational therapy needs of the physically impaired students.
  5. Construct and adapt occupational therapy equipment to meet the need of the individual child.
  6. Cooperate with the physical therapist, speech therapist and teaching staff to facilitate experiences for the physically impaired.
  7. Teach and instruct teachers and aides in the proper handling of the physically impaired child.
  8. Schedule students and initiate a treatment program based upon physician’s orders.
  9. Evaluate physically impaired students considered for admission into a program.
  10. Keep proper records as indicated.
  11. Participate in evaluation as directed.
  12. Accept other assignments as determined by the building Principal.

WORK YEAR:        192 Days

SALARY:      Direct Service and Degree Specialist salary schedule as per the MIFT Master Agreement.
