REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Master's Degree in Social Work and Certification as a School Social Worker.
- Completed three years of successful experience working in a social work/education capacity with impaired students.
- Ability to keep accurate records in order to share information with parents, paraprofessionals and professionals.
- Ability to work effectively with administrators, staff, committees, agencies, schools and organizations to effectively plan for student programs.
- Skill in oral and written communication.
- Court/State hospital experience.
- Working knowledge/experience with Restorative Practices.
- Must pass criminal background check as required by School Safety Legislation.
RESPONSIBILITES SHALL INCLUDE, BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
- Work under the direction of the principal.
- Give support to students both individually and in groups, in the transition process to school, community and home.
- Work with administrators, school psychologist and staff in developing Behavior Intervention Plans.
- Develop in-service programs related to parents, students and staff mental health, transition, community resources and other appropriate topics.
- Assist parents of students with disabilities to understand social/emotional behavior and its impact on learning.
- Develop and facilitate monthly Parent Group Meetings.
- Act as a resource person for parents and staff, providing information on community agencies and their services. Act as a referral and coordinating agent to these agencies.
- Act as a resource to staff in developing student goals and objectives.
- Maintain current records on status of students and agencies.
- Participate in crisis planning and intervention.
- Collaborate on IEP’s, REED’s, Manifestation Determinations, Positive Behavior Intervention Plans, transportation meetings.
- Service Step Program students during traditional calendar.
- Other duties as assigned by building administrator(s).
WORK LOCATION: Lutz
WORK YEAR: 186 days (year round)
UNION: Position would be within the Macomb Intermediate Federation of Teachers
SALARY: Direct Service and Degree Specialist salary schedule of the MIFT Master Agreement
