QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree or above.
- State of Michigan Administration Certification or willingness to obtain.
- Special Education Supervisor or Director credential or willingness to obtain.
- State of Michigan Teacher Certification in Special Education, preferred.
- Understanding of State Curriculum Standards, as well as, mandated state and alternative assessments.
- Demonstration of effective school leadership.
- Experience using PowerSchool Special Programs, SWIS and Performance Matters preferred.
- Successful experience working with parents, staff, administration and community agencies.
- Knowledge of staff and program evaluation procedures.
- Experience with community based instruction, job training and IDEA transition requirements.
- Experience with the school improvement process; annual education reporting and drill schedules.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws; regulations and procedures regarding Special Education.
- Responsible for the organization and administration of state assessments.
- Must pass criminal background check as required by School Safety Legislation.
ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
- Share in the daily operations of assigned building(s).
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of staff as coordinated with the Principal.
- Act as representative in IEPT, REED, METS, and Transition Meetings.
- Assume Principal responsibilities in their absence.
- Supervise custodial and maintenance staff as coordinated with the Principal.
- Coordinate student responsibilities, including, but not limited to:
- Student Behavior
- Transportation
- Special events
- Serve as liaison to parents, community agencies and employee groups.
- Participate in the School Improvement Process.
- Other duties as designated by Principal, Director, and/or Superintendent.
