Substitute Bus Driver

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Satisfactorily pass physical examination upon conditional offer of employment.
  2. Obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with endorsements.
  3. Must have excellent driving record.
  4. Physically capable of lifting and balancing 40-60 pounds.
  5. Neat appearance; well groomed.
  6. Cooperative, positive and flexible in student-staff relationships.
  7. Must relate well with others, be adaptable to working with students.
  8. Must have patience, be considerate have even temperament and be calm under stress.
  9. Experience preferred in working with students with special needs.
  10. Candidate must show dependability and initiative.
  11. Must pass criminal history background check as required by School Safety Legislation.

RESPONSIBILITIES SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

  1. Be able to operate the vehicle appropriately.
  2. Assist in the loading and unloading of students at home and at school.
  3. Maintain discipline of children on the bus.
  4. Assist in the assignment of students' seating.
  5. Keep inside of bus clean.
  6. Prepare accident report whenever necessary for student injury.
  7. Attend first-aid classes, other para-medical procedures classes and other training at the direction of the Transportation Director.
  8. Become knowledgeable in fire drill procedure.
  9. Become knowledgeable in the use of fire extinguishers.
  10. Apply safety restraining devices as requested and authroized by the building principal and/or physical/occupational therapist.
  11. Perform emergency first aid.

WORK SCHEDULE:

 

  1. Substitute drivers are typically scheduled to work on all days that school is in session. 

 

Perform other duties as assigned by the Transportation Director
