QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Master’s Degree or above.
  2. State of Michigan Administration Certification or willingness to obtain.
  3. Special Education Supervisor or Director credential or willingness to obtain.
  4. State of Michigan Teacher Certification in Special Education, preferred.
  5. Understanding of State Curriculum Standards, as well as, mandated state and alternative assessments.
  6. Demonstration of effective school leadership.
  7. Experience using PowerSchool Special Programs, SWIS and Performance Matters preferred.
  8. Successful experience working with parents, staff, administration and community agencies.
  9. Knowledge of staff and program evaluation procedures.
  10. Experience with community based instruction, job training and IDEA transition requirements.
  11. Experience with the school improvement process; annual education reporting and drill schedules.
  12. Knowledge of federal and state laws; regulations and procedures regarding Special Education.
  13. Responsible for the organization and administration of state assessments.
  14. Must pass criminal background check as required by School Safety Legislation.

 

ASSIGNED RESPONSIBILITIES SHALL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:

  1. Share in the daily operations of assigned building(s).
  2. Supervise and evaluate the performance of staff as coordinated with the Principal.
  3. Act as representative in IEPT, REED, METS, and Transition Meetings.
  4. Assume Principal responsibilities in their absence.
  5. Supervise custodial and maintenance staff as coordinated with the Principal.
  6. Coordinate student responsibilities, including, but not limited to:
  1. Serve as liaison to parents, community agencies and employee groups.
  2. Participate in the School Improvement Process.
  3. Other duties as designated by Principal, Director, and/or Superintendent.
